A Sandbox Review taken from the
US Family Guide Regional Forum -
Rochester Kids
I just had the most fun play
date with my son ever! I took
him to The Sandbox Indoor
Playground in Fairport and he
had a blast (so did I)! Right
when you walk in there is a
homey feel to the place, it was
like walking into a friends
house that just has the coolest
stuff! My son took off running
the second we got there. Here is
a rundown of what he found – 2
bouncy houses and a bouncy
slide, sand play area that makes
you feel like you’re at the
beach, train table, foos ball,
air hockey, rock climbing wall,
tents to crawl through and play
in as well as his personal
favorite – the cars that you get
in and race down ramps. But
that’s not all he found – there
is a play area complete with
toys and books, play kitchen
complete with window to serve
from, play house with dress up
clothes (which by the way most
of the kids were wearing!),
vehicles to ride around on and
an interactive game with light
up floor to really work up a
sweat! There are many couches
and sitting areas spread
throughout the floor, and they
have a little seating area where
you can let your little one
refuel. Snacks are sold, and
soon popcorn, hot pretzels and
coffee will also be available.
The best part is, you’re welcome
to bring in your own snacks if
you’d like. In the 15 months she
has been open, owner Diana Morey
has created a safe, clean
environment for the 8 and under
crowd. She has a lot of repeat
customers, happy kids and adults
alike! Her customers are mainly
toddlers with an older sibling
which makes The Sandbox the
perfect place to get your little
one moving and grooving (there
was upbeat music playing over
the speakers too)! The Sandbox
is the perfect place for a
birthday party too, they
actually close to the public so
you can enjoy your party in
peace, or as much peace as your
little guests allow you! You can
even feed the adults and take
the place of your family party –
one day and you can get it all
done with their amazing party
packages. One night a week
UNYFEAT (Upstate New York
Families for Effective Autism
Treatment) meet here and trained
teachers provide sessions for
autistic kids. The Sandbox
provides them with a fun, quiet
place to learn and play. There
is a frequent visitor program,
bulk card rates, gift cards
(what a great gift idea!),
discounts after 3:30 and more!
In the works are Drop Off
sessions where you can leave
your child under supervised care
on certain days of the week. All
in all there are a lot of great
things going on at The Sandbox!
If you haven’t checked them out
yet what are you waiting for?!
