Grand Teton National Park is home to 86 named mountains and six lakes. Its undeveloped backcountry is home to over 60 species, and is a haven of wildlife. The mountains were first named by French-speaking trappers in the early 19th Century. In 1929, the area was designated as a National Park, and it was expanded to include the Jackson Hole National Monument in 1950.
