Durango’s Silverton Narrow Gauger Railroad is an attraction that is very popular. It runs for 233 miles. Regardless of the season, the ride will enchant the kids. The train is great for families and can accommodate large groups.

Chapin Mesa

There are several things to do for kids in Mesa Verde. The first is to hike. For young children, a 2-mile round trip hike is possible. For older children, the longer, more strenuous hikes may be better suited. There are many easy trails available, such as the Far View Sites Complex that takes you around the structures built on mesa tops.

The park is also home to the Chapin Mesa Archeological Park. This site is a place for visitors to explore ancient puebloan cultures. Hiking trails are plentiful in the area, and the Petroglyph Point Trail is a popular one. The nearby Chapin Mesa Archeological museum is also available for hikers. You can also take a self-guided tour of the Balcony House.
